Making table top floral decorations at home can be an absolute fun experience. In this video, Pottery Barn’s style expert, Nico De Swert, shares some tips and techniques about how to make table top floral decorations at home. One of the first things that Nico demonstrates is how to make a floral napkin ring. First, Nico folds a cardboard into a ring shape and staples it. He then glues a leaf on its outer surface and adds flower buds and imitation pearls to lend this floral piece an elegant look. His next demonstration is about making a floral birthday cake. In order to make it, Nico uses a half floral foam sphere and submerges it in water before placing it in the center of the cake stand. In the next step, he decorates the floral foam sphere in layers with flowers, starting from the bottom and finishes off with candles to lend it a birthday look. A simple table decoration idea is to use eggshells as floral vessels. To do that, Nico cracks a large white egg and empties it before converting it into a small floral vessel. For making floral cupcakes, Nico suggests pinning horsetail grass pieces to small sized floral foam and wrapping it with a pink ribbon. He then decorates it with hypericum berries and pink carnations. You can also use a glass vessel as a table decoration by lining it with a fresh leaf and add natural grass for a modern look.
